PepsiCo has placed the largest order for Tesla Semi trucks yet, reserving 100 units. The electric big rigs will join PepsiCo’s existing fleet of nearly 10,000 diesel semis to serve specific routes in North America.
PepsiCo is the latest company to place an order for Tesla’s upcoming Semi, which was unveiled in November alongside the 2020 Tesla Roadster. PepsiCo follows Wal-Mart, J.B. Hunt, Anheuser-Busch, and food distributor Sysco in placing Tesla Semi orders. Reuters reports Tesla has received 267 reservations so far. Initially, Tesla charged $5,000 per truck to place a reservation but that has since risen to $20,000.
PepsiCo intends to use the trucks for shipments of beverages and snacks foods from factories or distribution centers to retailers, and is currently deciding which routes would best suit the electric semis. Tesla claims the Semi has a [...]
Yesterday, thanks to a generous tipster, we found photos of what looks to be a new Ford Mustang Bullitt. Ford’s publicrelations team wouldn’t comment, but considering how production-ready the car looked, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Mustang Bullitt revealed at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. One was a close-up of the car’s engine bay, showing what looks to be the top of a supercharger that’s been stamped with the Cobra symbol and “5.2 L.” The second was of an engine oil requirements document that shows the “5.2L Mustang GT350” being produced alongside the [...]
According to reports, the flagship 488 could wear Ferrari’s most prestigious performance badge as it goes after the bonkers-fast Porsche 911 GT2 and McLaren 720S. Ferrari is not happy about the sheer speed of the Porsche 911 GT2. Not happy at all. That’s good news for the automotive world, though, because the Italians have resolved to make their 488 supercar much more aggressive. The angry new addition is potentially going to be called the 488 GTO, which would make it just the fourth Ferrari ever to wear the extremely special badge. If the company stops short of that honour the car will use a name in the same vein as Challenge Stradale, Scuderia and Speciale. Target power is a beefy 700bhp, with torque getting a big boost as well. The [...]
